Durable Stainless Steel Wire Manufacturers
At Brookfield Wire we manufacture round, flat, and shaped steel wire to meet your specifications. We specialize in precision, high-speed steel wire manufacturing in a broad range of diameters, tempers, alloys, chemistries, and finishes. We can also handle specialty products for specific applications.
What is Stainless Steel Wire Used For?
Stainless steel wire is used in construction, kitchenware, and hardware. Stainless steel was developed in the early 20th century and is fabricated using the drawing process, a proven technique that involves reducing the cross section of the wire by drawing it through a die.
Stainless steel wire has a myriad of uses. One of the most common applications is for creating wire mesh. Mesh may be woven, knitted, or welded depending on the final use of the mesh. Woven stainless steel mesh is the most common of these meshes. Wire mesh can be made of wire just fractions of an inch wide through industrial meshes that are more than an inch wide. Uses in industrial applications for various sizes include conveyors, filtration systems, fencing, screens, and architectural decoration.
In household use, stainless steel wire can be used for slicers and cutters, strainers, handles, mixers, and mashers. In electrical appliances, stainless steel wire can be used in dishwashers for filtering and as springs for switches.
Stainless steel wire can also be used in food processing and in the automotive industry, as meshes for support mats and muffler packing and as cable system components, as well as for essential reinforcement as braided hoses for brake systems. In aerospace, it’s used as a fastener material and as cables for aircraft, and in medical applications it is used in a wide variety of places, from endoscopes and stents to post-surgery staples and reconstructive surgery.
What is Stainless Steel Wire Rope?
Wire rope is comprised of metal wire braids that form a helix. This rope is incredibly strong and corrosion resistant, making it ideal for harsh exterior applications. Wire rope is used in construction, engineering, agriculture, aerospace, and in tough marine environments. It comes as stainless steel, galvanized, and coated wire rope.
Stainless steel is the most common type of braided rope. It derives its strength from the pattern in which it is formed, because each thread of wire is subjected to equal loading. Stainless steel rope is resistant to rust, corrosion, and chemicals, and is often found in heavy industry and construction. Because it is so hardy, it is excellent for creating precision instruments and for making components that are subjected to harsh environments.
Stainless Steel Wire Manufacturer
Stainless steel wire is by far the most commonly used wire for meshes, ropes, and cabling because it is so cost-effective. Although there are more expensive options available—tungsten, for example—the benefits of stainless steel often make it the most appropriate choice for an application. It’s an exceptionally strong wire, with galvanized steel being even stronger still. It has a long lifespan and is easy to work with.
Brookfield Wire carries most types of steel, and has the capacity, equipment, and expertise to produce the steel wire product that you need for your project.
